About this app

Piano Companion is a flexible piano chords and scales dictionary with user libraries and reverse mode with a flexible chord progression builder. If you can’t remember the name of a chord or scale, this app helps you to find it by keys. For example, just press C, G and you will get C Major as the first chord in the search result. If you don’t see a chord, you can create a custom chord and use it for chord charts or your user library.

The Piano Companion app shows chord and scale notes, degrees, fingering for both hands in major and minor scales – and you can contribute your own custom fingering too. Additionally, you can listen how a scale or chord sounds in the loop or arpeggiated. You can see the list of compatible chords in the selected scale or list of compatible scales for a selected chord.

The app helps you to experiment with different chord progressions using our Chord Progression Builder using relative or common chords.

Great for making chord progressions and whatnot, but it still crashed on me on my first use, and this one has audio issues. I guess I'll just stick to the other version of Piano Companion I paid my subscription fee for. Both versions crash and this one has weird audio issues where the notes become very loud and distorted. (By the way, why are there two nearly identical versions in the first place?)

Thanks for feedback! Did you try the latest update (6.29.3092+) - most of crash issues should be fixed for that build. We also improved the performance significantly.

I'm a beginner in music and I find this loaded with USEFUL info. I'm using the Pro version and it's worth every penny (it wasn't a lot). I'm not sure what an experienced musician that knows music theory already would say. But it's a great reference I think for folks of any level. Would make a great teaching aid! Fairly easy to use and understand.

I have liked this app a lot but lately it does not show the degrees of the scale as before in the chord dictionary. Example Major = 1 3 5. That section is just gone. Hope it comes back!! They have made this change and others that pretty much make this app perfect. When it shows the notes in a chord you can tap a note and it will toggle between intervals and number value (1, b3 etc). I am jazz player and use this app a lot to double check my chords and to try different modes in the scales section. For music theory this thing is better than many books and always there for a quick lookup. The only thing I might add is an Interval section where you could select a note and then ask it to find the note up or down a desired interval. Anyway kudos to the developer of this.
